Thank You for Making a Difference in 2014

Reflecting on all that’s been accomplished on behalf of those with food allergies in the last year, we know one thing for sure: it couldn’t have happened without your support!  In 2014, your donations and support helped us make great progress in each area of our mission.

thanks

Every member of the food allergy community plays a role in advancing our cause. We’d like to give special recognition to some of the individuals and groups who made a difference this year:

Support Group Leaders
Support groups serve an integral role in carrying out FARE’s mission by hosting meetings, forums, and events to help families living with food allergies feel safe, included, and supported. FARE-recognized support groups are a lifeline to their members, and we are so grateful for their hard work and dedication to the families they support. To find a support group in your area, visit www.foodallergy.org/support-groups.

Walk Chairs and Participants
This year, more than 40,000 people attended a FARE Walk for Food Allergy in their community, raising $3 million for food allergy research, education, advocacy and awareness initiatives. Rain or shine, walkers turned out for their walks, and had a great time doing it! We’d also like to extend a huge thank you to our Walk Chairs, who dedicate their time and energy to planning and executing these events. FARE Walks are a yearly tradition and highlight for so many families, and their success is a direct result of your efforts!

FARE Members
FARE members make a significant impact every day in the lives of individuals and families who are affected by food allergies and anaphylaxis. For the past 20 years, FARE and its legacy organizations have been at the center of nearly every major development in food allergies – and we have been able to accomplish these things because of the support of our members.

Advocates
By the end of 2014, 46 states had laws or guidelines allowing schools to stock epinephrine, the first-line treatment for anaphylaxis. Advocates used our FARE Advocates Network to reach out to legislators and demonstrate that the food allergy community has a powerful voice at the federal, state and local level.

Volunteers
So many of our events, especially our FARE Walk for Food Allergy events, depend on volunteers to make them happen. There is a lot of planning and work that goes into planning our galas, luncheons, Walks, Teen Summit, and FARE National Food Allergy Conference, and we are so thankful for the help of the community to make these events a success!

Sponsors
FARE would like to thank our national corporate partners for their time, commitment and contributions, which support this public health issue that directly affects 1 in 13 children in the U.S. today. With generous support from Mylan, Sanofi, Sun Butter, ContentChecked, Abbott Nutrition, Enjoy Life, Skeeter Nut Free, and Allergic Living, we are able to continue working towards our mission.

You!
Thank you for being a part of this community and for being a member of the FARE family. Whether you rocked your teal during Food Allergy Awareness Month, renewed your membership, or helped educate others in your community, we appreciate your involvement and support!

Thank you to each and every one of you who has helped make a difference in the lives of the 15 million Americans with food allergies this year. With your support, we can’t wait to see what 2015 will bring! You can make a donation today at www.foodallergy.org/donate.

Please note: While this post mentions our national corporate sponsors, this is not a sponsored post. FARE does not review, test, sponsor, endorse or recommend any products or services that may appear on our blog.
