Hanukkah Orange Cut-Out Cookies

In addition to its religious significance, the festival of Hanukkah is a celebration of family, friends, and food. This cookie recipe can be used to make crowd-pleasing treats, especially if you use Hanukkah-themed cookie cutters to make sugary Stars of David, menorahs, and dreidels!


Orange Cut-Out Cookies

Milk-free, Egg-free, Peanut-free, Tree Nut-free, Soy-free

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 T. orange peel
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 1/2 T. water, 1 1/2 T. oil, 1 tsp. baking powder, mixed together
  • colored sugar

In large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add oil; orange peel; orange juice; and water, oil, and making powder mixture. Mix well.

Divide dough into 3 parts; wrap each in wax paper and refrigerate 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheet. Set aside. Place one ball of dough between two sheets of wax paper and roll out to 1/4-inch thickness. Using Hanukkah-themed cookie cutter, cut out desired shapes and transfer to prepared cookie sheet. Sprinkle tops of cookies with colored sugar. Bake 10 minutes, until lightly browned.
