  1. Another great point for staying in hotels is to call the hotel ahead of time & ask for a thorough cleaning. Some hotels call this “a green clean.” They will move the furniture & vacuum in between hard to get to places where food like nut snacks & crackers can be mashed into the carpet, etc. A regular room cleaning doesn’t entail this. Also ensure you speak to the hotel general manager so he/she is aware that you will be staying with a life threatening condition. Making sure everyone is on the same page is critical to having a fun & safe stay.

  2. An easy way to find the nearest emergency department is to use the FREE smartphone app called “EMNet findER”. This app includes the location of every US emergency department and is regularly updated by our research group at Massachusetts General Hospital. The app is available for both iPhone and Android.
